We read up to the 12 newest Shorts on the channel through our own data pipeline, then each Short's likes, comments and publish date, and analyze those posted in the last 90 days (all of them if none are that recent). The channel score (0-100) is the same four-part score as our
TikTok Account Audit, measured against Shorts benchmarks: (1) Engagement by views, up to 40 points: (likes + comments) / views, since YouTube reports no shares on Shorts. (2) Engagement trend, up to 20 points: a straight-line fit of each Short's engagement by views over time; a rise or fall of more than half a percentage point counts as improving or declining. (3) Posting consistency, up to 20 points: 0.5 to 3 Shorts a day scores full points. (4) Engagement by subscribers, up to 20 points: average (likes + comments) per Short / subscribers, against the expected floor for the channel's size, set at a fifth of the TikTok tier rates because Shorts audiences engage far less per subscriber.
