ShortsIntel.com ("ShortsIntel", "we", "our") provides social monitoring tools for B2C growth teams by monitoring and analyzing competitor videos. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your information when you use our websites, browser extensions, progressive web and mobile applications, and any related services (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

a. Information you provide

• Account details such as name, email address, password, organisation or team information.
• Content you save to ShortsIntel — competitor videos, URLs, analysis, transcripts, annotations, comments and any other materials ("User Content").

b. Information collected automatically

• Usage data (log files, device information, IP address, browser type, pages visited, referring pages and timestamps).
• Diagnostic and analytics data via cookies and tools such as PostHog and Sentry.
• AI-generated metadata derived from your User Content (e.g., transcripts, OCR text, hooks, tags, audience signals).

c. Information from third-party services

We may receive information about you from authentication providers (e.g., Google), payment providers (e.g., Polar, Lemon Squeezy) or other integrations you choose to connect.

2. Public Short-Form Video Data

The ShortsIntel Intelligence API analyses short-form video published publicly on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. To do that we collect and process material that is already public on those platforms:

• Public posts and their captions, hashtags, sounds, thumbnails and publicly reported metrics such as view, like, comment and share counts;
• Public creator profile information, including handle, display name, biography, and follower and post counts;
• Public comment text on those posts, and derived analysis of it;
• Public advertising records made available through the Meta and TikTok ad libraries.

Some of this material relates to identifiable people — creators, and the authors of public comments. We are not their customer and they have no account with us, so the following explains how we handle it.

a. Why we may lawfully do this

Where this material is personal data, we process it on the basis of our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK/EU GDPR and equivalent provisions elsewhere): operating a research and analytics service that helps our customers understand what is performing on public short-form video platforms. We have assessed that interest against the rights and freedoms of the people concerned, and we limit the processing accordingly. In particular:

• We collect only material the platform has made publicly accessible. We do not attempt to access private accounts, restricted posts, direct messages or anything behind a login that is not our own.
• We use the data to describe content and public performance, not to build profiles of individuals, and we do not use it for advertising, credit, employment, insurance or any other decision about a person.
• Comment analysis is stored without usernames or author identifiers, so what is retained describes the response to a video rather than who said what.
• We do not deliberately collect special-category data, and our terms prohibit customers from using the output to identify, target, profile or make decisions about individuals.

b. Where it comes from

We obtain most of this material through third-party data providers, including ScrapeCreators, and from the platforms' own public surfaces and advertising libraries.

c. What we keep, and for how long

• Video and creator records, and the snapshots of public metrics we take over time, are retained indefinitely — the historical series is what makes change over time measurable, and deleting it would remove the service's core function.
• Video media files are deleted once the analysis pass over them is complete. We do not keep a library of downloaded videos.
• Raw comment text is deleted after 90 days. The derived analysis is kept and, as above, never carries usernames.

d. Your rights, if this is about you

If you are a creator or commenter whose public content we process, you have rights over that processing, including the right to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests, and rights of access, rectification and erasure, subject to the exemptions in applicable law. Write to privacy@shortsintel.com with enough detail to identify the account or content in question (for example, the platform and handle), and we will respond within the period the applicable law requires. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

3. How We Use Information

• To provide, operate, maintain and improve the Service;
• To create AI-generated metadata and enable search, tagging and collaboration features;
• To process transactions and manage subscriptions;
• To communicate with you about product updates, security alerts and support;
• To detect, prevent and address technical issues or misuse;
• To comply with legal obligations.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

• With trusted service providers who process data on our behalf and in accordance with this policy (e.g., Vercel, AWS S3, OpenAI, PostHog, Sentry). Payments are handled by Polar and Lemon Squeezy, who act as merchants of record and process your billing details under their own privacy policies;
• With other members of your team or anyone with whom you share competitor intelligence or analysis links;
• As required by law, regulation or legal process;
• To protect the rights, property or safety of ShortsIntel, our users or the public;
• In connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger or acquisition.

5. Your Choices

• You may access, update or delete certain account information at any time from your dashboard.
• You may opt out of marketing emails by following the unsubscribe link in those messages.

6. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards such as encryption in transit, least-privilege access controls and regular audits. Nonetheless, no Internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy. You may delete User Content at any time.

Retention of the public short-form video data described in Section 2 is set out there: records and metric snapshots are kept indefinitely, video media files are deleted after analysis, and raw comment text is deleted after 90 days.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. If changes are material we will provide notice via our website or email.
