How we measured it
- Sample
- 619 TikTok Videos with a Score, from 48 Creators read in 50 Creator lookups (899 Videos returned, 236 too old to score, 44 picked by Research left out)
- Dates
- 2 October 2026 to 1 November 2026
- Platforms
- TikTok
- Creator lookups
- 50
- The sample is 50 Creator lookups, not Research Runs. We found the Creators through 10 Research Runs on the ShortsIntel house account, one niche each: skincare, supplements, DTC fashion, fintech apps, food and beverage, pet products, home goods, mobile games, beauty UGC and coffee. We picked 5 TikTok Creators from each Run and read each Creator with one Creator lookup, which returned their recent Videos with Scores.
- All 50 lookups ran on 1 November 2026 and cost 300 Credits, recorded on ticket #690. The Research Runs were collected for the TikTok hook benchmarks page. The dates above are when the scored Videos were posted.
- A Creator's baseline is built from their last 20 Videos by posting time, leaving out the Video being scored and any Video under 48 hours old. It holds the median and 90th percentile views of those Videos. With 5 or more Videos it is high confidence. With fewer, it falls back to a benchmark for the Creator's follower count and is marked low confidence.
- Outlier is a Video's views divided by its Creator's baseline median views. 2x means twice that Creator's typical Video. Measuring each Video against its own Creator stops big accounts from swamping small ones.
- Scores are only reported for Videos under 30 days old. 236 of the 899 Videos returned were older and are left out.
- These Creators were found through Research, which picks Videos doing well for the brief. 44 of the 663 scored Videos are the ones Research picked, with a median outlier of 41.2x, so they are left out of every figure on this page. That leaves 619 Videos from 48 Creators; 2 Creators had no other scored Video. The limits section gives the figures with them included.
- Views are one reading per Video, taken between 17:33 and 18:11 UTC on 1 November. 78 scored Videos were under 48 hours old and still gaining views; their median outlier was 0.30x.
- 9 Videos from 2 Creators were scored against the follower-count benchmark. Leaving them out moves the share at 2x or more from 20.5% to 19.7%.
- TikTok only. Creator lookups return Scores on other Platforms too, but this sample has none. Scoring a single Video on demand (score_video) is TikTok only.

62.2
median views per hour since posting for Videos at 2x or more, against 17.6 for the rest.
5.3%
median engagement rate for Videos at 2x or more, against 5.2% for the rest, so almost no gap. Engagement rate is likes, comments, shares and saves divided by views.
2,728
median views of the typical Video for the median Creator in the sample. The middle half of Creators sat between about 980 and 14,300, so most of these are small accounts.
Outlier TikTok Videos by Niche
Up to 5 Creators per niche, so each row rests on a handful of accounts and one big Creator can move the views share a lot. Read the rows as a hint.

One Scored Video, as the API Returned It
From a Creator lookup on the ShortsIntel house account, captured 1 November 2026 at 18:05 UTC. A DTC fashion TikTok Video posted on 10 October 2026. These are the fields an Assistant reads when it calls get_creator.
| Metric | Value | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| views | 2,800,000 | Views at capture |
| outlier | 3.2 | Views divided by the Creator's median views |
| outlier_p90 | 1.44 | Views divided by the Creator's 90th percentile views |
| percentile | 100 | Beat every Video in the Creator's baseline |
| views_per_hour | 5,295.28 | Average views per hour since the Video was posted |
| baseline median_views | 873,800 | The Creator's typical Video |
| baseline p90_views | 1,950,000 | Only 1 in 10 of the Creator's Videos did better |
| baseline sample | 16 | Videos in the baseline, high confidence |
25.6%
of Videos reached 2x or more if the 44 Videos Research picked are kept in, and they carried 77.8% of the views (663 Videos, 50 Creators). We do not use these as the headline.
Every Creator here came from a Research Run, which picks Videos that are doing well, so each Creator had at least one strong recent Video. Those 44 picked Videos had a median outlier of 41.2x, so keeping them in inflates the result: 9.0% of Videos at 10x carrying 44.3% of the views, against 4.8% and 10.5% without them. The rest of the sample still comes from Creators who had one strong Video, so even the 619-Video figures may run high for a typical Creator. We also left out our 240 single-Video Scores of Research Videos, because they are the picks themselves: 221 of them were at 2x or more and their median was 49.2x.
