Where the Transcript Comes From

TikTok publishes a caption track for most videos with speech, written by the creator or generated by TikTok. We read that track from TikTok through our own data pipeline and return it as plain text, with a word count. We do not rewrite or summarise it. Auto-generated captions can misspell names, brands and slang, so check those before you quote a line. A video with no caption track has no transcript to show. To score the first seconds of the same video, paste its link into the Hook Analyzer. For Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts, use the Video Transcript Generator. To compare hooks and scripts across many videos at once, read the guide to video transcripts for hook analysis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about getting the transcript of a TikTok video.

How do I get the transcript of a TikTok video?
Open the video in the TikTok app or on tiktok.com, tap Share, then Copy link. Paste the link into the box above and click Get transcript. The text appears in a few seconds, ready to copy or download as a .txt file.
Which TikTok links work?
Any link to a single public TikTok video: tiktok.com/@user/video/... links and the vm.tiktok.com, vt.tiktok.com and tiktok.com/t/ short links the Share button gives you. Profile, sound and hashtag links will not work.
Where does the TikTok transcript come from?
TikTok publishes a caption track for most videos with speech, either written by the creator or generated by TikTok. We read that track and show it as plain text. Auto-generated captions can misspell names, brands and slang, so check those before you quote them.
Why does it say the video has no speech or captions?
TikTok publishes no caption track for that video. That usually means it is music only, the words are on screen as text, or the creator turned captions off. With no caption track there is no transcript to show.
Is the TikTok transcript generator free?
Yes. You get 5 free lookups a day, shared across all our free tools, with no signup. A video someone looked up in the last hour loads again without using a lookup.
Can I transcribe a private TikTok?
No. The tool only reads public videos. Private, deleted and age-restricted videos return an error.
Can I get transcripts for many TikToks at once?
Not with this free tool, which takes one link at a time. A ShortsIntel account lets your AI assistant pull transcripts and hooks for as many TikToks as you need, so you can compare openers across a whole niche.
